Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has hailed the transport and police service departments for the smooth December the country had in 2019. According to Cheruiyot, unlike in the past, the country witnessed minimal accidents during the festive seasons unlike in previous years.
The second term legislator also hailed the National Police Service for maintaining security in Al-Shabaab prone areas.
"As a Kenyan, there are two things I really want to thank God for in our country.1. Dec holidays ended with all the travels yet so minimal accidents on our roads.2. The @PoliceKE led by @IG_NPS for the number of planned terror attacks by Al Shabab they foiled this Dec," he tweeted.
Unlike in the past, security forces managed to foil many Al-Shabaab attacks despite minimal incidents in which at least 11 people were killed in Wajir.
Transport resumed on Friday in Lamu according to coast regional coordinator John Elongate following an Al-Shabaab attack on a Mombasa Raha bus on Thursday.
“We insist on the need for bus companies and other passenger vehicles to adhere to movement restrictions, including travelling in a convoy escorted by police. We have a full escort schedule ... all vehicle owners must adhere to the prescribed procedure," he said.
