This follows social media claims that the hospital's group chairman Dr Swarup Mishra is involved in the illegal business.

But according to one of the patients John Kogo from Kesses constituency who underwent a successful kidney transplant last year in August, the allegations are false.

Kogo says before any kidney transplant is done to a patient, he/she must bring a donor and that the organs are not readily available.

"I was very shocked when I read in the social media that Mediheal Group of Hospitals owned by Dr Swarup  Mishra is undertaking organ trafficking. This is not true since before the exercise was done to me, I brought a person who wanted to donate the kidney," he said.

Speaking in Eldoret on Tuesday, Kogo further said that if the hospital was involved in organ trafficking, as it is being claimed, he could have paid some amount and be given the organ instead of coming with his own donor.

"If what was written in the social media was true, why did I come with a kidney donor if the hospital had kidneys at their disposal? Let us stop such propaganda that will tarnish the good name of the hospital," he noted pointing out that he is alive because of the successful operation he underwent at the hospital.

John Simiyu, another patient from Bungoma County who also had a Kidney transplant done to him in July last year wondered why patients who have undergone kidney transplants at the hospital had not complained.

He said the claims were just meant to tarnish the hospital's good name.

"Why are other people complaining on our behalf yet we are the ones who underwent the exercise? Let's be serious and not politicize health matters," Simiyu said.

A few days ago, blogger Robert Alai through his official Twitter account accused Kesses MP, who is Mediheal Group of Hospitals chairman, of being the agent of human organ trafficking.

Alai claimed that Mishra's key associate Dr Prem Kumar Gokul is being sought by Interpol over his involvement in organ trafficking.

Mishra has since denied claims of any involvement in the illegal business.

Mediheal hospital has several branches across the country including in Eldoret, Nakuru and Nairobi.
