A section of MPs from Luo Nyanza on Sunday vowed to protect Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, lauding his transformation agenda.
Dr Matiang'i has won hearts of many Kenyans given his revolution in the Education, ICT and Interior ministries where he has served for the last six years.
Led by Homa Bay Town MP Opondo Kaluma, the MPs hailed Dr Matiang'i, adding that they will protect him in Parliament from Tanga Tanga brigade.
"You have done us proud. Your work is always evident. Nobody is going to intimidate you. We know those from the other side and their ill motives," said Kaluma.
Kabondo Kasipul MP Dr Eve Obara said the Interior Minister deserves support from Kenyans of goodwill. She warned Tanga Tanga brigade against sabotage.
"We know Tanga Tanga has been hunting for him. They will not make it. We shall stand will Dr Matiang'i at all times and this is a fact," she said.
Paul Abuor of Rongo said South Nyanza region has Matiang'i as the only goverment minister, adding that local leaders will protect him at all costs.
Recently, Dr Matiang'i blasted Senator Aaron Cheruiyot at Nyamira, accusing him of lying about his supposed meeting with DP William Ruto.
A section of leaders from Nyamira and Kisii Counties have been rallying for Dr Matiang'i's candidature in 2022, with sources indicating that he will venture into politics.
