Renowned blogger Dennis Itumbi has taken issue with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party politicians use of the word cockroach to describe the opposition the party is facing in Kibra.
Mr Itumbi contended that the language was reminiscent of the inflammatory language that was used in Rwanda, touching off the 1994 genocide that led to the deaths of over a million people.
He called on the ODM politicians to exercise caution before using the word in their discourse.
"@EtalePhilip this Cockroach language was last used in Rwanda during Genocide. Be careful when you use itSecond, meet Hotel owners and plan on how to close hotels, unless you own them. You have no powers as @TheODMparty to give orders of closure. But well...," Itumbi said.
ODM politicians have described the opposition that it is getting from other parties in the Kibra by-election as an infestation of cockroaches that requires immediate fumigation.
The party politicians have said that the Kibra constituency is veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga's bedroom, a claim that has been strongly rejected by Deputy President Dr William Ruto and his allies backing McDonald Mariga.
Kibra constituency has long be a turf of the former prime minister having served as the area's member of parliament for over 20 years.
Residents of Kibra will troop to various polling stations to cast their votes to determine who will be their next member.
