Speaking on Sunday during an ODM rally to drum up support for Imran Okoth, Mr Odinga contended that those opposing the initiative were doing so because the BBI held the prospect of bringing their corrupt activities to light.

"But because they are scared that issues of corruption will be looked at they are shouting against it ("Lakini kwa sababu wanaogopa ati mambo ya ufisadi itaangaliwa ndio sababu wanapiga kelele), " the ODM supremo said. (16:09-16:15)

Deputy President Dr William Ruto's allies have been railing against the BBI, saying that it is aimed at expanding the executive so as to reward certain individuals with positions of power.

Raila Odinga, BBI's chief exponent, has rejected the criticism leveled at the initiative, saying that it is informed by a genuine desire to usher the country into a political era less defined by the tensions and bloodshed of the past.

The committee members of the BBI are expected to hand over the report to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM supremo in the coming days.

A section of Mount Kenya MPs have vowed to oppose the report should it have among its recommendations a parliamentary system.
