Veteran politician and former Subukia lawmaker Koigi Wa Wamwere has accused Kenyans of blindly following their political leaders.
Speaking on Saturday, he faulted the Kenyan electorate for allowing themselves to be swayed by the political elite without asking questions.
He termed this the actual situation now, where he said all Kenyans are discussing a possible referendum introduced by two leaders.
This was in reference to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), where he said Kenyans appear to have surrendered their reasoning to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM boss Raila Odinga, and are letting them decided for them.
"How come two people are playing with the minds of a country of 40 million people as if we don't have brains? This BBI is an affair of two people (Inakuwaje nchi ya watu milioni arubaini tunachezewa na watu wawili kama hatuna bongo? Hii BBI ni kitu ya watu wawili sio wakenya)," he said on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi on Saturday evening.
The former Nakuru senatorial aspirant stressed on the need for the country to carefully pick what it embraces, and stop taking whatever is thrown its way by the political elite.
"How can they meet at night to make decisions on our behalf? When they say jump we ask how high. (Inakuwaje wanakutana usiku kuamua kwa niaba yetu? Wakisema turuke tunauliza turuke hadi wapi)," he added.
