Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has issued a stern warning to unnamed politicians from the Rift Valley region whom he accused of dividing Central Kenya residents.
Maina claimed residents in Central Kenya were being intimidated and wondered why the politicians were too focused on dividing President Uhuru Kenyatta's backyard.
"We are not happy with this intimidation. We will not allow people to come from Rift Valley and divide people in Central Kenya. Why is it that Central is the only place they are dividing? If they can do this when Uhuru is alive and in office, what will they do when he is gone?" he posed.
Maina, who spoke in his vernacular language, made the remarks on Wednesday when he was hosted by Chief Administrative Secretary at the Youth and Gender Affairs Ministry Rachel Shebesh at her home.
His remarks come amid allegations by politicians allied to the Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee Party that Deputy President William Ruto was causing divisions in Central Kenya for his own political benefits.
Lately, the populous region has witnessed a series of chaos as Kieleweke politicians face off with those allied to the Ruto-led Tanga Tanga side.
Taking to Facebook after the meeting, Maina praised Shebesh-led Team Embrace for its efforts in uniting the country and vowed to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
"I was amazed by the bravery and power women have which was clearly shown by my sister Shebesh. As leaders, we should foster peaceful coexistence within the communities regardless of ethnic, age and gender difference. I, therefore, intend to join hands with women in encouraging the Building Bridges Initiative which was initiated by the President and Raila Odinga," the ex-Mungiki leader posted.
