The nutrients found in black tea may be good for your body. The beverage may help you prevent a plethora of life-threatening infections.
Kathy W. Warwick, R.D., CDE, dietitian, highlights the benefits that come with consuming black tea;
1. Protecting against atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is a heart disease characterized by hardening, narrowing or loss of elasticity in arteries or blood vessels, leading to stroke, coronary heart disease and chronic kidney disease.
A 2004 study confirmed that consuming black tea could prevent building up of plaques in the blood vessels, hence staving off the malady.
2. Lowering cancer risk
A study performed by The National Cancer Institute (NCI) unfolded that polyphenols in tea has the ability to tremendously lower and impede the growth of tumours in the body cells.
In general, the beverage may attenuate the risk of prostate, breast and lung cancer.
3. Reducing blood pressure
A study conducted back in 2015 established that the polyphenols component found in black tea lowers systolic and diastolic blood pressure which may help prevent cardiovascular infections.
4. Protecting against diabetes
The compound in black tea can significantly help in maintaining blood sugar level by sprucing up the production of insulin hormones in the liver.
In a study conducted on two people with type 2 diabetes, the victims displayed promising results after consuming the tea for over a period of 4 weeks. The high blood sugar level was lowered which confirms the benefits of black tea in preventing this scourge.
