Githurai 45 chief has cautioned the area residents against farming and constructing structures on land reserved for road expansion.
Addressing the public in Githurai today, area Chief Francis Ndukai said stern action will be taken against those found building structures on public land.
The Chief raised concerns, saying that some traders have invaded and constructed structures on land reserved for road expansion.
“We are giving a one week notice to traders who have build structures on public land meant for road expansion to demolish them immediately,” said the Chief.
The chief said structures that have been constructed on public land will be demolished to pave way for road expansions.
He said they are working with the local leaders to ensure the demolitions are done in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the chief has asked area residents to comply and adopt security measures being made by the government.
He noted that a section of residents have been reluctant to adopt security measures especially the Nyumba Kumi initiative.
“It is important to note that these security strategies are meant for our own good. We have a responsibility towards our personal and communal security,” he said.
