Addressing journalists in his office on Monday, Kabogo said that some bars are operating near schools hence hampering learning.

The governor further urged Sub County Boards to quickly revoke licenses to bars operating near learning institutions.

“As county we are concerned over the high number of bars and pubs mushrooming in our county,” said Kabogo noting that some are operating illegally.

He gave sub county administrations seven days to close all illegal pubs in the county.

On the same note, Kabogo has formed a team to investigate rising number of pubs and strip clubs in the county.

The team has seven days to compile a report and forward it to the county.

He said the county will work with other state agencies including the National Campaign against Drug Abuse (Nacada) to deal with rogue operators.

Elsewhere, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, has cautioned area youths against taking drugs.

Speaking at Gatundu over the weekend, Kuria raised concerns saying that teenagers are being lured into drug and substance abuse.

He urged local leaders to help curb drug and substance abuse saying it is a threat to development.
