City lawyer Donald Kipkorir has told off Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen after he invited leaders to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting to be held in Mombasa on Saturday.
Kipkorir, who hails from Murkomen's Elgeyo Marakwet County, said he holds his Senator in high regards, but said he was out of order to welcome others in an event he is not part of.
"Have highest respect for my Senator and I flew to Cheptongei by Chopper from Nairobi twice to vote him and hardly call him out... His “invitation” for attendance in Mombasa BBI Rally is puerile and Primary Schoolyard taunting .. My Senator isn’t part of Mombasa BBI Planning Committee nor Host," the flamboyant lawyer tweeted.
After refusing to attend Kisii and Kakamega rallies, Murkomen and other leaders in the Deputy President William Ruto-led Tanga Tanga faction, announced they will be in Mombasa and other rallies planned to popularise the much-hyped BBI.
"I would like to welcome all leaders to the BBI meeting in Mombasa this Saturday. We shall be focusing on the unity and development of this country and not sideshows about 2022 and discussing individuals. Karibuni Pwani!" the Senator tweeted on Wednesday.
Kipkorir is among leaders who have opposed the move by Tanga Tanga to attend the meeting, and has urged ODM leader Raila Odinga not to let them join him.
"Tanga Tanga change of attitude is a poisoned chalice. Don't take it. Reject it. History is replete with such subterfuge. Don't fall for them. Don't allow them to join you," the lawyer told the ODM boss.
