The form three student at Poror High School had been suspended due to indiscipline.

The school's administration had asked the student to return to school accompanied by his parents.

The student's body was discovered by his father who was planning to take him back to school on Thursday.

Next to the body was a bottle of a Triatix, a spray used to kill ticks in livestock.

According to Matumaini chief Kennedy Kiango who confirmed the incident, it remains unclear why the student decided to take his own life.

The chief urged parents to communicate with their children, more so teenagers, since many of them tend to be going through issues and need guidance.

According to Eric Otieno, founder of Fatuma'a Voice, cases of suicide among teenagers are caused by peer pressure, depression and widening gaps between parents and their kids.

"Parents are busy living their own lives to know what's going on in their kids' lives while some try too hard to create the ideal world for their children and fail," he explained.

He said the issues affecting teenagers can be addressed by keeping communication channels open and creating a conducive environment at home for emotional stability.
