A Kenya Defence Forces bus rammed into a matatu on Friday evening at Dundori area in Bahati, Nakuru County killing two people on the spot.
The 33-seater bus reportedly lost control and rammed into a Nyamakima Sacco 14-seater matatu near Lanet Barracks.
“The bus, thereafter, landed in a ditch outside Dundori Police Station, whereas the matatu hurtled towards a petrol station right opposite the police post,” an eye witness recounted.
Nakuru County Police Commander, Stephen Matu confirmed the 6:50 pm accident but did not disclose the number of those injured.
“However, I am yet to receive formal communication from the area OCPD in regard to the total number of victims injured in the crash,” Matu said.
Most army officers and vendors on the roadside suffered broken limbs according to an eye witness adding that the number of those reportedly dead could be more than two.
He said the bus hit a pedestrian near Mteja Supermarket before hitting the Matatu killing two. This unofficially raises the number of deaths to three.
"I was among those who pulled the victims from the ill fated matatu crash and rushed them to a private hospital here in Ndudori before they were rushed to Nakuru in an ambulance," he told the Star.
