There has been an uproar after MCSK paid artists what has now been branded by many as peanuts.

However, Octopizzo has said that there is a need for artists to understand how and why they ended up getting such small amounts of money instead of unnecessary rants.

Speaking on Citizen TV's 10 over 10 Show on Friday, the rapper said what MCSK has paid artists is not the whole money they are supposed to earn for their music.

He said that the Sh2,530 most artists were getting was for all registered artists and not for their work rate. He also claimed that there are ghost artists in the system earning from where they did not invest.

Octozpizzo said MCSK is set to pay artists in October, payments that will reflect how hard they have been working and how often they have been getting airplay.

"There is money coming in October, and this is for airplay. Some artists will be earning zero on this. (Kuna doh inatoka October, na hii sa ndio doh ya ma-airplay, sa inamanisha kama hupatangi airplay, hapa sasa inamanisha kuna wase hawatapata kitu)," he said.

The rapper also claimed that Bongo Star Diamond Platnumz has been collecting money from Kenya but Kenyan artists cannot collect money from Tanzania and even in Uganda, because there are no such systems.

"At least we got these systems, they are not available in Uganda and Tanzania. You cannot collect money from Tanzania if your song was played in East Africa, but Diamond Platnumz has been collecting money in Kenya," Octoppizo said
