A politician allied to Raila Odinga led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has said that he does not fear anyone over his decision to back Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid.
Joash Maangi, who doubles as Kisii County Deputy Governor, on Saturday said that he has a right to support candidate of his choice in 2022 polls.
"Every Kenyan has a right to express him or herself in matters politics. When I chose to back DP Ruto for presidency in 2022 it does not mean I am the enemy of the community. People should know I'm enjoying my democratic right," Maangi said.
He urged Members of Parliament from Kisii and Nyamira Counties supporting Ruto to stay put amid ongoing pressure to have them quit.
"MPs who have joined hands to rally behind DP Ruto have the right to do so. I urge them not to be intimindated," he stated.
Present at the event were MPs; Mathira Rigathi Gachagua, Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu, Joash Nyamoko of North Mugirango, Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri, Alfa Miruka of Bomachoge Chache.
Others were Prof. Zadoc Ogutu of Bomachoge Borabu, Bonchari MP Oroo Oyioka, Shadrack Mose of Kitutu Masaba, Vincent Kemosi of West Mugirango among other local leaders.
