A female police officer has been found dead at her house in Miti Moja Estate in the outskirts of Eldoret town.
Uasin Gishu police commander Johnston Ipara confirmed the incident, adding that the deceased was attached to the Naiberi police post.
"It is unfortunate that the lady was brutally murdered. So far, we don't know what happened, but it is suspected that the lady was killed by her lover whom they were having some wrangles, but we haven't confirmed yet," Ipara told the media in Eldoret town on Thursday.
According to the police boss, the lady had several stab wounds on the head and on her body.
"We have started investigation to know what happened, those involved and their intentions, and soon we will bring to book all those that were involved," he said.
He noted that they are following crucial leads to arrests and prosecute all those involved in the murder.
The police boss urged residents and the family of the deceased to remain calm as police investigate the incident.
He urged those with any information regarding the murder to report it to the nearest police station.
Her body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
