Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Executive Secretary Joe Mungai now claims embattled Secretary General Wilson Sossion has only himself to blame for his ongoing woes.

Sossion was on Friday last week suspended by the union's top leadership, only a day after the National Executive Council (NEC) resolved to push him out over misconduct.

Speaking on Monday, Mungai claimed Sossion has for some time been in the union's radar, since he reportedly began interfering in local leadership elections.

He further claimed that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominated MP has as well been leading with dictatorship, which is one of the reasons behind his unceremonious ouster.

"He has been operating with dictatorship he is not consulting anyone. He has also been interfering with local elections. We are tired of enduring (Amekuwa akifanya kazi kiimla, hashauriani na yeyote. Katika chaguzi za mashinani pia amekuwa akiingilia, tumekuwa tukuvumilia lakini sasa tumechoka)," he said.

He made the remarks in an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha, Monday morning.

He alleged that Sossion made it hard for the union to cooperate with the government, by perennially being at war with the government through the Education Ministry.

"He is fighting everyone, he is on one hand dismissing ministers and on the other accusing the deputy president of plotting his ouster (Ana vita na kila mtu, mara anasema mawaziri wameokotwa, mara naibu wa rais ndiye anataka kumtoa)," he added.

However, the Employment and Labour Relations Court on Monday reinstated Sossion, pending the hearing of a petition challenging his ouster.
