Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament Richard Tong'i has backed President Uhuru Kenyatta's firm stand on the allocation of funds to counties.
Tong'i speaking on Friday in the constituency said governors should not be too hard to accept the funds the national government is sending to their respective counties.
The legislator maintained that governors must know how to spend the available funds wisely for the sake of growth and development in counties.
"Devolution did not come for a few individuals to benefit. The money being sent to counties should be accepted by governors. I support President Uhuru Kenyatta for standing firm on the funds allocation to the counties," said Tong'i.
The vocal lawmaker maintained that MPs will not be compromised and warned senators against pushing for more funds to counties arguing that senators won't dictate the National Assembly on the legislative duties.
"Senators must tell Kenyans how money is being embezzled and wasted in counties before pushing for more funds to counties. MPs will not take in any intimidation and blackmail from the senators," he added.
He appealed to President Kenyatta not to change his mind to accept funds be sent to counties more than what the MPs have proposed.
