Renowned television show host and controversial socio-political commentator Tony Gachoka has hailed Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko over Mau.
Writing on Twitter on Friday, Mr Gachoka expressed adulation for the CS over what the television host described as a good job.
"Waziri good Job @Environment_Ke on this one with H.E @StateHouseKenya let @kipmurkomen see how Mau Forest will change as we plant trees & restore the eco-system. @DonaldBKipkorir @ahmednasirlaw @Paul_Muite, " Tony Gachoka's tweet read.
Gachoka's adulatory tweet came hot on the heels of another tweet made by the Ministry of Environment updating the public on the progress made in ridding the Mau Forest of human habitation.
According to the ministry, 96% of the illegal settlers in the Mau Forest left the water catchment area voluntarily without the government having to employ force.
It said that the exercise of getting settlers to leave the forest was conducted in a humane manner.
"CS Tobiko: The 60 days notice issued to the illegal settlers of the Maasai Mau Forest expired yesterday..... Long before the expiry of the notice 96% of the settlers left voluntarily.... The exercise was done in humane and judicious manner #Mau10MillionTrees #SaveMauNow, " the ministry's tweet read.
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry has been locked in a bitter war of words with a section of politicians from the Rift Valley region who are opposed to the evictions.
