The employees, who work in the company’s support centre in Nairobi, will be shown the door as the firm seeks to restructure its operations in Kenya.

The new developments make EABL one of the latest firms to send home a large number of workers.

London-based brewer Diageo has decided to outsource its labour from other markets after the new development.

In a statement released to the media house, the firm said that it will be reviewing its structure to determine the best strategy to embrace as it seeks to grow its market.

“The business services requirements and processes across Diageo Africa are changing and as such Diageo will be conducting a review of the centre to determine where best to locate technical services roles for Africa in either Europe or Asia,” the Diageo stated.

The most affected departments will be the finance desk and human resource following the process. The retrenchment process is expected to be conducted gradually and concluded by March next year.

The members of staff in the named department are now in panic mode as they rethink about their next steps following the revelation of the plans to lay them off.
