COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli has said that Deputy President Dr William Ruto and his backers will not be in government come 2022.
Speaking on Sunday in Kakamega, the outspoken COTU boss contended that those fighting against the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) would be in the political cold.
According to the flamboyant trade unionist, the deputy president has been conducting himself in utter disrespect to the president and that would cost him the top seat.
"You will vote for a leader who will lead this country and among the leaders who will be in government, William Samoei Ruto, Bonny Khalwale and the others who are in that faction will not be in government (Mutapiga kura kwa kiongozi wa nchi hii na kati ya hao viongozi watakuwa kwa serikali William Samoei Ruto, Bonny Khalwale na hao wengine wote ambao wako kwa mrengo huo hawatakuwa ndani ya serikali), " the COTU secretary general said.
Ruto allies have, by and large, railed against the BBI saying that it is a cynical plot aimed at creating more political positions for individuals.
Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has been moving around the country drumming up support for the initiative.
Mr Odinga contends that the BBI will resolve perennial issues that have plagued Kenyan politics.
A week ago he said that the initiative would destroy TangaTanga, an amorphous political grouping of DP Ruto's backers.
