Soy MP Caleb Kositany has suggested that the Eldoret International Airport be named after the World's marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge.
In a tweet, he proposed that the Airport be simply renamed Eliud Kipchoge international Airport (EKIA)," he wrote.
"Rename Eldoret international Airport to EKIA Eluid Kipchoge international Airport," read Kositany's tweet.
On Saturday, Eliud Kipchoge became the first athlete to ever run marathon in less than two hours. He used 1:59:40 to complete the race.
41 pacemakers assisted him to enter into Guinness book of World records as the first marathon runner to achieve the same.
They were divided into groups of seven whereby, five were running infront and two behind him to control the pace of the race and shield him from wind.
The event took place in Vienna, the capital city of Austria in Central Europe.
Deputy president William Ruto, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and his Uasin Gishu counterpart Jackson Mandago amongst other leaders attended the event.
The athlete was making his second attempt after the first one he made at Monza, Italy in 2017 fell short by 26 seconds after clocking 2:00:25.
However, the world athletics governing body, IAAF would not recognize his feat as a new world record because it did not meet the international standards.
