Kimilili Member of Parliament has announced that he will be recruiting 500 security officers, two days after he was roughed up by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters during the Kibra voting exercise in Kibra.
In a tweet Saturday, the politician claimed that he has decided to introduce his own protection team, aftet the relevant security authorities refused to take action against those who meted violence against him.
He named Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi as among the people who had him roughed up, in an incident where Arati also threatened to have him arrested, allegedly for buying votes.
In a video that made rounds on social media, the MP was then manhandled by a group of people which was accompanying Arati, in the full glare of National Assembly Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali.
"Since the @DCI_Kenya,@DPPS_KE and @IG_NPS have remained mum over the violence meted against me by @SimbaArati and the international slayqueen @Hon_FatumaGedi, this inaction represents a vote of confidence to the goonism by @InteriorKE," he wrote.
The MP is therefore inviting application of 500 persons to join his security team, saying that he will be responsible for their training.
But ironically, the MP is appearing to be only inviting applications from people with questionable backgrounds, as he indicated that those cleared by the police are not welcome.
"I therefore wish to invite applications for recruitment of 500 persons to join my security team, those with police clearances certificates will be disqualified. An attractive commission and retainer will be offered to successful applicants after rigorous training," he added.
Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Starehe MP Charles Njagua were also kicked out of Kibra, as they went to show solidarity with Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga.
