Security bosses in Mombasa have embarked into an investigation after a bullet was discovered near the venue of this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
According to Nation, it remains unclear how the bullet found its way at Senti Kumi, Likoni, during the celebrations.
The location of the bullet is a few meters from Mama Ngina Waterfront Park. The discovery comes barely a week after President Uhuru Kenyatta led the celebrations at the place. The source indicates that the distance between Mama Ngina Waterfront Park and Senti Kumi is only 500 meters.
It is also recorded that the bullet can travel for a distance of 3128 meters when released. The bullet has since been taken for analysis to establish how it came into being. “If a bullet was found then there must be a rifle, which we are now looking for,” a senior detective told Nation.
The incident comes after detectives reportedly foiled an attempt by terror militia to attack the place.
Police had to swing into action to ensure the safety of the president. Guests, who included leaders, were frisked as they made their way to the place for the celebration. The team later assured the attendants of their safety.
