Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso will be laid to rest in Koru, Kisumu County.
The deceased burial will take place in the Lake Region in accordance with the Luo Tradition and her wish.
Her husband Edwin Abonyo, who hails from Kisumu County, has confirmed the new development.
Obonyo said that the date of the burial will be announced later.
"The burial will take place in Koru at a date to be announced soon," Abonyo told Nation on phone.
On his part, Luo council of elders chairman Ker Willis Otondi said that the deceased’s wish to be laid at her husband’s ancestral home before she succumbed at the Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Speaking to the media at the Lee Funeral Home in the Presence of Deputy President William Ruto after receiving the sad news from the doctors, the Obonyo said that the deceased was a strong woman, who fought the race and kept her faith.
He also asked Kenyans to support the family during this moment of trial.
"I want us to be strong. We have to be strong for her. As it's has been mentioned, she has actually suffered for a long time but we kept it under wraps. She did not want it to deter her duty and all the things that she was doing so she was very strong and we can only reciprocate that by also being stronger for her," he said.
Leaders from different quarters have already sent their messages of condolence to the family.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga are among those who have eulogised her as a great warrior.
