Two MPs have threatened to lead Kikuyu traders to court to oppose the taxes imposed on them by the Kiambu County Government.
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa and his Dagoret South counterpart Dennis Waweru termed the taxes as uncalled for.
The levies, which took effect on January 1, have paralysed operations at Dagoretti slaughterhouse for three days now.
"I will contribute Sh100,000 and my colleague will do the same we take a case to court to have these taxes removed," said Ichung'wa amid cheers.
He added: "If it will require us to be coming here daily to have you carry your own activities without being disturbed by the county officials, that is what we will do."
Waweru on his part said that it was wrong to tax even hawkers who are trying to make a living.
"Why ask a 'mama mboga' for cess? What will be left for herself to open the following day and feed the family? We did not elect Kabogo to make us poorer," said Waweru.
The two were speaking to a public gathering at the slaughter houses in Kikuyu yesterday.
