Speaking on Tuesday at Kambi Moto Trading Centre, Rongai sub-county, Karasinga said that the council of governors' quest is uncalled for and unconstitutional.

“The quest by governors to scrap CDF does not reflect any meaning and its in bad faith,” said Karasinga.

He accused the governors of failing to account for the county's budget allocations under their stewardship, and wondered how they would utilise the fund if put under devolved units.

“Governors have failed to account for the devolved money in charge of them making the public to lose confidence in them, how do they expect to account for CDF if they have failed to account for the devolved cash?” said Karasinga.

He further noted that the move would derail development growth at the grass root levels.

“CDF has contributed to the growth of developments at the grass root levels .Many social developments like hospitals and access of clean water have been funded by cash from the CDF kitty,” noted Karasinga.

He also said that the bursaries to bright and poor students from poverty-stricken families have been facilitated by the fund.

He further said that diverting the fund from the patronage of MPs to the devolved governments would spark antagonism and would strip the legislators the power to oversee the public resources.

He urged the National government to increase the allocation of the CDF to enable electorate to benefit from the kitty.
