Machakos Central member of County Assembly (MCA) Cornelius Kitheka has asked the county government to expedite payment of workers who allege that they have not been paid for months.
On Monday a section of workers camped at the county offices in Machakos demanding for their three months payment.
The workers mainly garbage collectors claimed that the government has been playing hide and seek with them over their salaries.
The MCA said that the government must move quickly and pay the workers their dues to prevent any inconveniences.
“I want to ask Governor Alfred Mutua to pay workers who claim not have received their salaries in that last three months,” he said.
Kitheaka urged the workers to be patient as he discusses the matter with relevant offices.
On the same note, the MCA challenged the government to guarantee residents their security as the holiday season and mood pops in.
He asked the county government to deploy more police officers in the county to deal with any form of crime.
The MCA observed that residents have a right to security and that both the county and the national government should provide it.
Kitheka appealed to young people not to indulge in alcoholism and instead urged them to work with law enforcers to tame crime.
