Six people have been left dead after a gunman went on a shooting rampage in the Czech Republic, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has reported.
Local authorities have said the gunman is still at large even as police mount a manhunt for him.
The shooting happened at the traumatology hospital which was placed on lock-down following the deadly shooting.
The hospital is located in Ostrava which is said to be 350 kilometres east of Prague.
According to local media reports, doctors were locked in the hallway.
Security has been improved across the country in response to the shooting.
“We are currently strengthening the supervision of selected soft targets across the Czech Republic. We ask the public for patience and thoughtfulness,” the police said in a statement as quoted by the Independent.
“We ask the public for help in finding the likely suspect. We also call for the utmost caution," he added.
Law enforcement officers showed up at the scene of the shooting five minutes after being alerted to the incident.
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis confirmed the shooting, adding that it happened in a waiting room of the hospital.
It is the worst attack in four years since 8 people were gunned down at restaurant in 2015.
