Munyaka who spoke to the press at Machakos county offices yesterday defended the laws saying they would help in the fight against terrorism.

The MP said that it was important for the laws to be passed and signed observing that terrorism and all manner of crimes were affecting the country.

On whether the security laws will infringe on the rights of citizens, the MP said that the laws only target terrorists, criminals and other people or individuals that might engage in unlawful acts.

“I support the security laws that were passed and signed by the President. It is the only way to restore security in the country,” he said.

The lawmaker said that security is an issue that should be supported by every leader despite different political affiliations.

Munyaka however called on the government to take other stiff measures in a bid to improve on the country’s security.

The MP observed that passing and having laws without implementing them would not help the situation.

He added that there is need for transformation in the security agencies saying that without good blood among top security chiefs the country will continue to experience attacks.

Munyaka asked Machakos residents to adhere to the laid down rules and regulations to avoid falling into trouble
