Two people are confirmed dead as seven others sustain serious injuries in the ongoing rescuing operation at Osiri gold mining area following the land slide that occurred the previous night in Nyatike constituency, Migori County.
The unfortunately incident left two brothers, Peter Ouma Otieno (27 years) and Fredrick Ouma Otieno dead while seven other miners escaped from the slide narrowly which sever injuries.
Confirming the incident, the area police boss Mr. Dishon Chebaka said the miners where conducting their normal artisanal Gold mining in the area when the land slide late at night and killed the two as the other sustain serious injuries.
Chebaka said the police in collaboration with the community managed to recover the body the late Peter Ouma while that of Fredrick Ouma is still under search in the mine where it stuck.
The seven survivors had been rushed to Migori level four hospital where they are nursing injuries while the recovered body of preserved in the same hospital mortuary.
The police boss is appealing to the community to be very carefully when doing their mining activities in the mining zones to avoid such mysterious death cases.
