Two church leaders from Siaya county have demanded fresh investigations into the accident that claimed the life of their colleague two weeks ago.
The two preachers suspect that a cover-up could have been deployed to conceal the cause of the accident that killed Christ Glory Center Assistant Bishop Reverend Joseph Ajuoga.
Bishop Silas Owiti of Christ Glory Center Ministries and his Future Life Church Counterpart Isaac Obure on Thursday demanded a fresh probe into how the accident occurred.
Owiti wondered why the owner of the killer vehicle is yet to be arrested despite being well known in Siaya. He said that the government must fully come in to protect Kenyans' lives.
"I preach at a local FM station and just outside the station, I find very many Ugandan vehicles with bhang and illicit brews for sale. These vehicles have caused a lot of accidents. The government must act to save our people," he told the press in Siaya.
Obure too called for arrests of those responsible, whom the preachers noted are still at large after causing death.
The police said that they have kicked off a probe, and have launched a manhunt for the owner of the Toyota Wish vehicle involved in the accident.
"Their phones are off and they are not at their homes. We are, however, trailing them through our own means. We will arrest them soon," said Siaya County Sub County Police Commander Justus Kucha.
He rubbished claims that police have tampered with evidence in the case. The accident which happened along the Siaya-Nyadorera-Ruambwa road also claimed the life of Samuel Muli and Barrack Okeyo, who are Ajuoga's sons.
The preachers have raised concerns as to why the airbag of the involved vehicle, which had bloodstains, was cut off.
But the police have said that they are keeping it for investigation purposes.
