Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta's Wednesday endorsement of Kibra aspirant McDonald Mariga is very unlikely to affect his union with Raila Odinga.
Uhuru on Wednesday met the soccer star who is vying on a Jubilee Party ticket and is expected to face off ODM's Imran Okoth.
Asked if Uhuru campaigning in Kibra could erode the spirit of the handshake, Amollo stated that it won't have any effect, dismissing the Kibra race as irrelevant to the handshake which is a national affair.
"If the president decides to come, it won't have any effect on the handshake. Kibra is irrelevant to the handshake. But Uhuru is not even coming to Kibra yet, let's stop being speculative," he said on KTN, Wednesday night.
He expressed confidence that ODM will retain the seat previously held by the late Ken Okoth, brother to Imran.
The legislator stated that for the first time, the party will be enjoying the backing of members of the Jubilee side, which makes it even easier for Raila's side to crush Jubilee and all the others.
"Its interesting that you will see Jubilee MPs campaigning with us," he added, in reference to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and his nominated counterpart Maina Kamanda who have thrown their weight behind ODM.
