According to Loruko sub-location census supervisor Peter Lekalkuli, the attackers arrived at the village before 7 pm.

During the incident, a 23-year-old enumerator, Valentine Lamasia escaped with a gunshot wound on her right leg.

Lekalkuli noted that the incident happened moments after calling Valentine to forward the day's statistics.

However, Lekalkuli pointed out the ongoing national population and housing census will still go on as scheduled.

Isiolo North Member of Parliament Hassan Odha also revealed that the attackers only wanted to stop the exercise in the region.

The attacker targeted a house occupied by the enumerators.

The MP asked that security be reinforced in the area for the exercise to continue successfully.

More so, he asked the government to deploy more security forces in security prone areas.

Using sniffer dogs, the attackers were tracked to Ngaremara area.

The MP noted that they will be positively identified as investigations go on.

Burat ward MCA Hassan Yarrow urged residents to remain calm. He advised them against fleeing the area due to fear of their lives.
