Nakuru County commissioner Mohammed Birik has said that Nakuru Town is under vigilance after allegations of terror attack by Al-Shabaab terrorists.
He said that the security agencies are alert over any threat by Al-Shabaab insurgents.
“We have tightened vigilance in public and government places from any threat by Al- Shabaab terrorists,” said Birik.
The caution comes after allegations swept through social media that Al- Shabaab militants are planning to unleash terror attack on the town.
Speaking on Tuesday in the afternoon to journalists in his office, Birik said that they cannot overrule the allegations.
“Any information on breach of security no matter how slight will be treated with seriousness,” said Birik.
He urged the members of the public to reveal any information that would lead to destabilizing of the stability in the county, so that necessary actions would be taken.
“We are following closely the threat posted on social medial to know its motive and we have put the necessary steps to avoid any spate of terror attack by the Al- Shabaab criminals,” added Birik.
He urged the residents to continue with their economic activities as his administration has put and beefed up security.
