A happy Elkanah Mokua from Mwongori secondary could not hide his joy after he received news that ward representative Ken Atuti would settle his fees balance of Sh17,000 to literally revive his hopes of continuing with his studies.

The young Mokua, who had thought of bowing out of school and subsequently look for manual jobs, had emerged position 12 out of a class of 223 but had his studies temporarily interrupted due to the fees balance.

“I am a total orphan and had no hope of continuing with my education. I raised a little sum of money from the community early this year to join form one. I can’t believe that he has decided to pay fees for me,” he said.

The young Mokua, who would like to be a medical doctor in future, lauded the MCA and promised to give a spirited fight to top his class so that one day he will change the living conditions of his two other young siblings.

“I have gotten a chance and I am very grateful of him [the MCA].  I must show that I deserved the support through hard work,” he said.

Speaking on phone, Mr Atuti said his leadership will see such students get support so that they could achieve their ambitions.

“I am dedicated to ensure that bright children go to school. I will ensure he finishes high school with my support.  The ward development fund will be used to ensure that such kids are given hope,” he said.
