County livestock veterinary director Enos Amuyunzu attributed the rise to the rise in number of pastoralists from neighbouring counties.

The director added that farmers in affected sub counties have been advised to confine sick animals.

He said that enough veterinary doctors have been deployed to affected areas to quell the situation, “Livestock farmers across Nakuru should be vigil and report cases of foot and mouth,” he said.

He also asked pastoralists to restrain their animals from the areas where cases of the disease have been reported.

Amuyunzu further warned locals against feasting on the animals that die as a result of the disease.

He said that more tests are being carried out the samples collected from the dead animals in Naivasha.
