Heroin is a dangerous and addictive drug which has undesirable side effects. Continued use of this drug causes more harm than good to your body.
Here are some of the effects of heroin use.
1. Itchy skin
This may be as a result of many existing conditions that afflict the skin. However, heroin is also known to cause itchy skin. An itching sensation of the skin occurs due to the stimulation of pruriceptors by a number of external factors such as chemical or thermal mediators. Heroin has harmful chemicals that attribute can be attributed to the condition.
2. Lower than normal body temperature
The normal body temperature should be around 37 degrees celsius. Continued use of heroin lowers your body temperature which is risky. When your temperature drops drastically, your body organs including the heart, lungs and liver will not function properly.
3. Slowed heart rate
If you have been experiencing shortness of breath, this simply means that your heart is pumping blood at a slower rate as noted by James Beckerman, MD, FACC, a cardiologist with the Providence Heart and Vascular Institute at St Vincent Medical Center. Many factors such as drug abuse are believed to cause a slowed heart rate.
