Njui says that the critics of the changes suggested under the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) are doing it thinking that it seeks to solely benefit ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The Nakuru-based commentator says that this is the reason behind opposition to the introduction of the Prime Minister slot, with the group thinking that it's for Raila.

Speaking on Saturday, he pointed out that while the group is arguing that the slot will balloon the wage bill, Kenyans are already suffering as a result of the huge Parliament.

"Kuna watu wanapinga BBI kwa sababu ya waziri mkuu, hasira zote hizi ni eti wanaona inaundiwa Raila Odinga. Wanasema eti waziri mkuu atatumia pesa nyingi, lakini sio kushinda hili bunge kubwa," he said on Saturday evening.

This translates to; "Some people are opposing the BBI because of the Prime Ministerial proposal, they think it's being formed for Raila. They are saying that the prime minister slot will be expensive, but that's nothing compared to out the big parliament."

Njui made the remarks on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show, where he pointed out that its wrong to fight a course solely because you dislike one of the persons involved.

He also noted that the group should realize that even if held by Raila, there will be a timeframe for holding the seat, after which it might even be one of them occupying it in the future.

"They think Raila will be there forever, they don't know that he will leave it (Wanaona Raila atakaa hapo milele, hawajui ataondoka)," he added.

However, Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta, the BBI founders, have said that it only seeks to unite the country and eradicate the culture of post-election wrangles.

Uhuru on Friday admitted hearing people linking him to the seat, saying that he wouldn't mind taking it, even after initially claiming that he does not want another position as he is already tired.

Raila and team have on the other hand said that the BBI will strengthen oversight in parliament should there be a referendum to revert the nation to the parliamentary governance system.
