Police officers in Kisii County have intensified on a crackdown to flush out twilight girls who have invaded streets in Kisii town.
Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi raised alarm over the increased number of commercial sex workers in the town.
He said most of the sex workers are college female students and young girls who turn to commercial sex at night.
"The rate at which twilight girls have invaded the town is alarming. I wish to confirm that police officer especially those patrolling at night will be vigilant to ensure sex traders are flushed out of the streets within the town," Kigochi said in Kisii town on Friday.
The county security boss opined that during weekends, several sex workers throng the town in search of male clients something that he claimed will increase infection of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/Aids.
He appealed to parents to guide their daughters accordingly and warn them of the dangers of engaging in sex trade.
"Parents should make a follow up on their daughters who are studying in various high learning institutions in Kisii because it has emerged that several sex workers at night are college female students. The public needs to cooperate with police to minimize sex trade businesses," he stated.
