Speaking today at Lanet Shopping Center during a public meeting, Chief Mary Wangari said that the trend was encouraging.

“I salute Nyumba Kumi for its role in maintaining law and order,” said Wangari.

She also said offences related to drug and defilement had reduced due to public awareness among the youth. Wangari urged the youth to keep the rate of crime low in a bid to make the area a free crime zone.

The administrator said that church has also contributed to the decrease of criminal activities.

“Local clergies have contributed to the decrease of the crimes by counseling the youth on the dangers of offences,” said Wangari.

The chief urged the youth to form groups and apply for the government-funded loans.

“The government has taken keen interest in youth by providing funds like Uwezo Fund and I urge youth to apply for the fund,” said Wangari.

The chief however urged the youth not to expect everything from the government but involve them into income generation activities to earn a living.
