Speaking during an anti-jigger campaign at Gachororo Primary School in Kiambu, Kamau stated that alcoholism and drug abuse is the main cause of jigger infestation in the area adding that drunken people cannot take care of their health and that of their family.

He cited the unemployed and low income earners as the most affected by jiggers in addition to being associated with cheap and dangerous liquor.

He further stated that some women have gone into prostitution in order to provide for their children since their husbands are lost in alcoholism. Kamau spoke in reference to a lady who confessed to practicing prostitution for as low as Ksh50 during an interview with a local radio station prompting him to give her Ksh100,000 to start a business.

Area MP Francis Munyua  who was also present at the event offered to contribute Ksh50,000 to the woman and said that he would ensure that she has benefited from Biashara fund so that she can start a business.

More than 79 people from Juja Sub County have so far benefited from the Ahadi Kenya anti-jigger campaign.
