A section of Kisumu County Assembly members have accused the county Governor Jack Ranguma of short-changing them in the allocation and distribution of the county bursary funds.
Kabonyo/Kanyagwal MCA Charles Aguko and his Onjiko/Awasi counterpart Fanuel Aim have claimed that the bursary project is their own initiative since they proposed, legislated and passed in the Assembly.
Aguko accused the office of the governor for having clung on the project further alleging that the governor forgot about the MCAs, whom according to him, were the chief pioneers of the project who were left with the task to get views and opinions from the members of the public.
He said that the funds should not come directly from the governor's office, but should instead pass through the ward office managers and the ward administrators.
“We are the legislators and this fund should pass through other structures such as our ward offices and not directly from the governor,” said Aguko.
The leader also lamented that as the founders of the same, they also needed to get mileage by having the biggest say in the programme.
Aim on his part also lamented on the same, though he later acknowledged that they had debated upon the matter and will soon bring forth a motion to streamline the bursary disbursement process.
Aim urged the office of the ward administrators to ensure that they work closely with the ward managers' office to attain better service delivery to members of the public.
