Traders who were moved from Nakuru CBD to the Langalanga stage in Nakuru town have cried foul over the limited space available, saying that crowding at the new place is keeping customers away.
Speaking at Langalanga stage, Leonard Mwangi, who was among the traders settled at the stage, said that some hawkers have missed out on space, after the place got filled up.
Mwangi said that most buyers are afraid of visiting the new place due to overcrowding, adding that this has really affected their business.
“We are so many and the stage cannot accommodate all of us, we are forced to squeeze together and so many hawkers have missed space. Buyers are not coming because they have nowhere to pass, even the pathways have been occupied,” said Mwangi.
“Since we moved to this place, all we have been registering are losses, life has become harder and we are confused,” added Mwangi.
Mwangi went on to point out that they have been relying mostly on the customers who work in the CBD, adding that their business is now ruined.
“As hawkers, we have been relying on customers who work in the CBD but now if you lock us up in such a hidden place, then most of us we will be forced to close business due to the scarcity of clients,” he added.
