The ANC brigade was in the constituency to drum up support for it's candidate Eliud Owalo, ahead of the November 7, mini polls.

While traversing the constituency, a group of rowdy youth at Kamukunji Grounds reportedly pelted stones at the ANC campaign convoy forcing the leaders to scamper for safety.

The incident underscores the combative nature of the campaigns as parties with candidates in the parliamentary race seek to win the Kibra seat.

Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga also visited Kibra in a bid to campaign for Imran Okoth.

The Kibra seat was declared vacant after the death of former Member of Parliament Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer in July.

The race has blown to the surface the divisions within the National Super Alliance (NASA).

ODM politicians have accused Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula of betraying Raila by fielding candidates in Kibra.

Political pundits have framed the race as a high stakes contest for Odinga whose party has long held the Kibra seat.

Kibra is widely regarded as a turf of the ODM party.
