The candidates continue to use each available opportunity to sell their agenda to the people of Kibra, in a bid to get an upper hand ahead of the November 07, 2019 by-election.

On Tuesday, Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate Eliud Owalo declared that one of his plans if elected is to ensure that Kibra residents are able to transport the bodies of the loved ones home, at the point of death.

The politician declared his plan when he appeared on NTV’s Sidebar programme on Tuesday, alongside Malassen Hamida (United Green Movement Party), Khamisi Butichi (Ford Kenya) and Elijah Nyamwamu (NARC Kenya).

“One of the biggest challenges the people of Kibra face is how to transport the bodies of their loved ones home when they pass on. It sounds very basic but it is a fundamental problem.

"I want to address this by looking for sponsors or donors who can help us have some funeral or welfare buses which can be used to transport bodies home,” Owalo said.

He went ahead to claim that he once hired a bus to transport the remains of a relative of Butichi, because Butichi’s family was ‘stranded with the body.’ Butichi dismissed the claims right away.
