The school headteacher Kamau Joseph said that the school was not aware of the whereabouts of the absentee pupils. He, however, added that such incidents were expected due to the high number of registered candidates at the school.

"Maybe something came up, we don't know where some of them went. It is normal especially when we have a high number of candidates, for one reason or another there are those who will fail to show up (Huenda kulitoke sababu za hapa na pale, wengine hatujui walienda wapi. Na kawaida tukiwa na kundi kubwa la watu, bila shika huenda tukawa na wale watakosa kwa sababu ya moja au nyingine)," Kamau told KTN News.

The school which has 688 registered candidate is hopeful that it will produce good results in this year's national examinations.

This year's KCPE examinations started smoothly with minimal incidents of delayed arrival of papers being reported.

The Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) has consequently been praised by various stakeholders for ensuring the exams begins without any major delays.
