Siaya Senator James Orengo has asked politicians to desist from politicising the Building Bridges Initiative report.
BBI team is set to move around the country for yet another round in which Kenyans are set to learn about the proposals and give more suggestions.
Already, the team has recommended for among others, a weak Prime Minister post, a move that is reportedly objected to by ODM party.
At Waondo village on Friday, Senator Orengo, however, said the recommendations will be implemented both through Parliament and referendum.
“The destiny of the document will be decided by the people but some can be referred to Parliament. We must stop clouding it with cheap politics,” said Orengo.
On Thursday, Orengo led a team of senators who proposed the creation of a powerful PM post that would pave way for Parliamentary system of government.
Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, who is opposed to the idea, on Friday accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of pushing secretly for the powerful post.
“If it is a powerful prime minister that you want, please tell us so that we consider and focus on other critical issues affecting Kenya,” he said as Raila and scores of ODM brigade listened.
The BBI team is expected to conclude on the report before handing over recommendations to assemblies as a referendum bill.
