Residents from Itumbe location of Sameta Sub-County will from tomorrow start getting free treated mosquito nets distributed by the government. This is in relation to the effort of averting a malaria pandemic during the ongoing heavy rains as witnessed across the country.

The area Chief Henry Mirera has confirmed that the consignment of the nets for his location has already been delivered at Kenyoro Health Centre and Eburi DEB Primary school. These are the locations which have been identified as distribution centres for Giasaiga Sub-Location with another distribution centre at the Nyakegogi Dispensary and Nyakegogi Primary School.

Mirera however warned the area residents against selling the nets challenging them to use the nets for intended purposes. He also said that the area residents that were not registered will benefit from the nets immediately after their details were captured assuring them that there were extra nets for them.

He clarified that distribution of the nets within his location will remain transparent and that nobody should worry as the government has put all systems in place to ensure all residents benefit from the nets.

"I am calling on all residents within my location to turn up for collection of free mosquito nets from the designated centres as from tomorrow," said Mirera.
