Njoro MP Joseph Kiuna has called for organised and peaceful demonstrations.
Speaking in his constituency at Neissut centre on Wednesday, Kiuna called on the area residents to always stick to the agenda of a demonstration and avoid destroying property.
He took the issue with his constituents for invading several farms on Tuesday and destroying crops (sweet potatoes, maize and vegetables).
"Food is a basic human need and under no circumstance should it be destroyed in a manner that compromises its importance," he said. The legislator noted that food situation in the country was not stable and such actions are demeaning in any modern society.
"You can imagine how somebody who went ahead to sleep on a hungry stomach on that day after witnessing you destroy food. Its too bad," Kiuna added.
On Tuesday, the area residents took to the streets to demonstrate against alleged grabbing of cemetery land in the area where they destroyed food that had been planted on the piece of land.
The MP called for patience as relevant authorities look into the matter, promising to intervene for an amicable solution.
